Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Program at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.

As you browse through this web site, you’ll get a brief view of what we’ve been building over the past 40+ years: a community-based-yet-unusually-academic, unopposed-yet-allied-with-other-specialty-trainees type program, set in one of the most ethnically and socioeconomically diverse cities in California.

Sports Medicine Fellowship

Our fellowship teaches the primary care physician to work with a team in a dynamic environment, obtaining additional focused experience with a Division I university, Action Sports Industry, and the local community. Our fellows continue to work in a primary care setting while learning point of care diagnostics and becoming a confident specialist.

Areas of Concentration

Areas of concentration (AOCs) are tracks that provide residents additional training opportunities beyond the core curriculum in family medicine. We offer AOCs in community medicine, global health, health policy, LGBT medicine, reproductive medicine, and sports medicine.

Residents

Our residents are bright, passionate, diverse, motivated, hard-working individuals that truly grow together to become a tight-knit family. Year after year, we are so proud of the classes that we match, and of the residents that we graduate from our program. Learn more about our current residents, as well as our faculty and alumni, at the link above.
